How 4 Voices Used Paid Digital To Reach More Women, Volunteers And Donors

Published on May 10, 2026

In November 2025, I began supporting 4 Voices as a volunteer digital marketer. 4 Voices had a powerful story and a generous volunteer team, but very little structured presence in paid digital. With the introduction of a 6-month always-on digital campaign, the campaign was one of the clearest examples I’ve seen of how a modest paid budget can truly amplify impact for a small charity.

Charity Spotlight

4 Voices is an Australian charity that supports women experiencing social isolation, homelessness and domestic or family violence. Through outreach vans and community-based support, the organisation offers practical help, human connection and pathways to further services.

The Kind Strategy

The objective was clear: help more women find support, attract more volunteers and grow donations in a way that was affordable and practical for a small charity. Working with Briana Ciccheli, 4 Voices’ Marketing Director, and Riria Taukamo, Digital Architect from Comradery Digital Agency, we developed an always-on paid media plan to deliver on these objectives.

The first paid campaign launched on 14 February 2026 across both Meta and Google. Riria’s team also helped us access Google Ad Grants, which meant Google Ads search support was low bono for the charity, allowing 4 Voices to show up when people searched for help or for the charity. She also generously provided creative asset design for the campaign, many pro-bono hours in management, as well as provided access to the knowledge and skills of her incredible performance team and partners, such as our account leads Lauren Swidenbank and Sophie Donato.

To set the campaign up for success, I worked with 4 Voices on simple website conversion recommendations and an automated email nurture flow for new leads. This created an always-on layer of support so that when someone clicked through from campaign, more of them went on to ask for help, explore volunteering or become a regular giver over time.

I also knew that storytelling would be essential for this campaign, so I joined frontline services on a series of shoots and created a series of simple, story-led content pieces for advertising. This helped ensure the campaign reflected the real women, volunteers and moments behind 4 Voices, rather than feeling like generic charity marketing.

Impact At A Glance

Between 14 February and 14 June, the campaign significantly grew awareness, engagement and tangible support for 4 Voices:

  • Around 20,496 people (147%+ YOY) visited the 4 Voices website during the campaign period (up from 8305 in the same period last year), with 13,000 new users (138%+) coming to the site for the first time, leading to more than 296,000 meaningful actions such as reading content, clicking for help, learning more or starting a donation (vs. 125k the year prior).
  • Engagement rate climbed to 73.66% (up from 61.47%) – visitors weren’t just arriving in greater numbers, they were spending considerably more time engaging with the cause.
  • 107% increase in homepage visits year on year (5,541 active users in 2025 vs 11,496 in 2026), 191% increase in /volunteer active users (2,282 vs 6,631) and 88% increase in /get-help active users (1,485 vs 2,792), showing more women, volunteers and supporters are finding the information they need.
  • During the campaign, paid search and social drove 50% of all new website leads, turning digital into a major engine of connection and support.
  • Google Ads has become the second largest source of website traffic – a mid-funnel channel bringing in volunteers, service enquiries and warm donor traffic at low cost thanks to the Ads Grant ($3676 spent, 67,125 people reached, 5k new users to the site, 6.6k sessions, 93 form submissions and 360 give now clicks.

Direct impact on women, volunteers and donors:
  • 138 direct service and support requests were driven by Meta ads in just two months, at around $10 per enquiry submission.
  • 107 volunteer enquiries were also attributed to paid Meta, at a $13.77 cost per enquiry.
  • 76 new leads added to the donor database through Meta, plus a further 142 leads through a new quiz ‘Could you survive 48 hours without a phone’ at just $5 per lead – both feeding the long-term donor nurture pipeline
  • Overall, the website saw 595 volunteer application clicks, indicating that hundreds of people were inspired to consider giving their time.
  • 250 donations between 17 February and mid-June, compared with 86 in the same period in 2025 – a 191% increase in donors year on year and a +72% increase in gift value.
  • 33 donations were directly attributed to Meta during the campaign window (vs none in the previous year), establishing paid social as a new, reliable source of giving.

    Campaign content performance:
  • A single voiceover reel produced by Kind Strategy explaining the charity and inviting people to donate generated 431 engagements, 31 comments, 56 shares and 18 donations
  • The ‘Meeting women where they are’ video delivered 106k impressions, 1.7k clicks and 138 website contacts
  • An organic story-based video produced by Kind Strategy from Founder Jo reached 26k views, 59 comments and 62 shares, helping more people understand who 4 Voices is and how they can help.

Why Paid Digital Mattered

The campaign worked because it did what paid digital does best for small charities: it put the right stories in front of the right people, again and again, in the moments when they were ready to act. Meta helped more women and supporters actually see 4 Voices in their feeds, while Google caught people who were actively searching for help or for the charity by name and guided them to the website.

Behind the scenes, conversion optimisations made to the website and that always-on email flow meant the extra traffic from Meta and Google did not go to waste – more website visitors turned into service enquiries, volunteer leads and donations in the weeks that followed.

For 4 Voices, the impact was tangible: more women reaching out for support, more people exploring volunteering and a 191% increase in donors year on year, off the back of a $12k combined paid budget. Paid digital turned awareness into trackable actions – from service enquiries and volunteer clicks to first-time gifts – and created a repeatable path 4 Voices can keep using in future campaigns.

For a small charity, this is the real takeaway: paid digital is not about expensive creative or high production video, it is about being visible and accessible at scale. With a clear strategy, a few hours of volunteer support each week, the right digital team & creative and access to Google Ad Grants, 4 Voices proved that structured, targeted digital campaigns can unlock impact that organic posting alone cannot reach.

What’s next

The strategy from here is to build on what’s working and double down on the channels and creative that have proven their value:

  1. Keep producing low-fi story-led van content
  2. Continue testing dollar handle donation creative alongside fresh static variations to feed Meta’s appetite for variety
  3. Apply for additional Google Ads Grand budget
  4. Plan paid media around key fundraising moments
  5. Run a donor landing page conversion A/B test to determine the best long term donation experience
  6. Move towards wider reporting that connects paid activity to wider impact metrics – van visitation, volunteer conversion, email nurture results, corporate sponsorship enquiry and brand uplift

Paid activity works on two timeframes at once: short-term conversion of ready-to-act audiences today, and long-term brand building that grows the pool of people who’ll convert tomorrow. The work done in the first three months sets 4 Voices up for a much stronger second half of the year.
