Volunteer with Kind Strategy
Volunteer your marketing skills to help charities amplify their impact.
Kind Strategy is building a small volunteer crew of marketers, creatives and students who want to use a few hours a month to help small charities and grassroots organisations run better marketing, reach more people and unlock funding they’d otherwise miss.
What this project is
Kind Strategy works with charities, social enterprises, and community groups who are doing important frontline work but don’t have access to senior marketing support. This project is designed to connect these organisations with practical help from people who can contribute real skills in a manageable, well-supported way.
Volunteers are matched to short, focused pieces of work that fit their skills and time. The goal is not to create pressure or endless unpaid work. It is to build a values-led network of people, that can contribute their skills and experience to help good people doing good work.
Who we’re looking for
You do not need to be an “expert at everything”.
If you bring one or two of these skills – or are keen to learn – there is likely a place for you.
Content and Copy
Blog posts, impact stories, case studies, basic campaign copy, proofreading and turning rough notes into clear, human language.
Social media
Scheduling and shaping posts, simple content plans, basic reporting, helping charities show up consistently without pressure or gimmicks.
Website support
Simple page updates in common CMS platforms, tidying navigation and creating or updating key landing pages.
Email and CRM
Drafting email journeys, setting up simple automations, cleaning lists and building basic templates.
Meta (Facebook & Instagram) ads
Helping with small campaigns, audiences, optimisation and reporting, especially for charities testing paid activity for the first time.
Google Ads & Google Ad Grants
Supporting set up and optimisation for eligible charities, especially those using or wanting to explore Google Ad Grants.
Fundraising and partnerships
Helping shape small fundraising campaigns, donor communication plans, simple pitches, or partnership proposals for values-aligned businesses.
Public relations (PR)
Helping charities share their work through media outreach, press releases and pitching impact stories to journalists.
Students & early career marketers
Marketing, comms, digital, or design students who want real projects, gentle guidance and experience working with charities in a way that respects community and lived experience.
You might work in-house, freelance, agency or still be studying. What matters most is a steady, kind approach and a willingness to help.
What volunteering looks like
To keep things manageable, the project is built around small, clearly scoped pieces of work rather than open ended commitments.
Time commitment
Typically 3–4 hours a month, with options for slightly larger short term projects if you have capacity.
Clear briefs and goals
Kind Strategy works with each charity to define a practical scope, so you know exactly what you’re doing, for whom and by when.
You are not alone
You’re part of a small volunteer pool. Some projects will pair you with another volunteer or with Kind Strategy directly for support, reviews or direction.
Calm, human pace
The goal is steady, useful progress – not last minute panic or high pressure, “save the day” requests.
If you have exam periods, caring responsibilities or busy seasons at work, you can step back and re join when life is lighter.
The impact you’ll help create
The charities and community groups supported by Kind Strategy are often working in areas like homelessness, domestic violence, food scarcity, mental health, illness awareness and grassroots community connection. Many have never run a structured digital campaign before.
Your contribution might help:
- A small charity recruit enough volunteers to keep a mental health program running.
- A homelessness crisis organisation test a low budget digital appeal that becomes evidence for a larger grant.
- A grassroots group finally get a clear, simple website that people can actually navigate.
The work is practical and behind the scenes, but the flow on impact is real.
How volunteers are supported
Volunteers are not expected to have all the answers. There is guidance, structure and a calm point of contact so you are never left to figure things out alone.
- Clear, focused briefs so you know what you are doing, for whom and by when.
- Projects matched to your skills, interests and available time.
- A primary contact at Kind Strategy you can turn to for context, decisions or “does this feel right?” checks, and fortnightly or monthly project team meetings.
- Light feedback, reflection, and career references after projects, so each piece of work helps you grow as well as contribute.
The aim is to give you enough direction and guardrails to do thoughtful, grounded work for charities, without needing to be an expert in everything before you start.
How to express interest
If this sounds like you, the next step is simple.
01
Share a few lines about your skills, current role or study.
02
Let us know roughly how many hours a month you could offer and any access or support needs.
03
If you have a portfolio, LinkedIn or sample work, you can include links – but it’s not essential.
After you reach out, you’ll be contacted with the next steps and, when there’s a good match, introduced to a project that suits your skills and capacity.
Thank you x
